the few that i am aware of are NGE and pokemon does anyone know any more?

How is Pokemon' controversial? 
Anyway one series that is controversial is Full Metal Alchlemist. It has a lot of sometimes depressing characters and dark themes like Eva. Like the humuculi, (i think thats how it's spelled) people born from Alchlemy. They have a mind and body but no soul. One advertisment for volumes 7 and 8 of the series said they were quote "How the damned are born". Theres also the idea of equivelent exchange and using alchlemy for bringing back people from the dead and soul binding. Theres also hardely any fan service throughout most of the series wich is weird for most anime these days.

The Porygon episodes were removed from air for causing seizures. Jynx was removed in the states b/c some soccer mom got the ganguro reference confused with a Sambo stereotype and bitched at 4kids. Her face has been colored purple since then...

In Japan, there was a very controversial episode of FMP? Fumoffu. Can't remember the details, though. I'll find it in one of my Newtypes later.

The second episode, I believe, was pulled because of its subject matter. Sousuke kidnapped an elementary schoolkid to exchange for Kaname. When it was supposed to air, there was apparently a string of kidnappings in Japan, so the episode was pulled.

o and one pokemon character had a swastika on its head in the card game... the jews b****ed and they rereleased without swastika and also removed them from the japanese market...
